Why we don't use accessibility overlay widgets
Accessibility overlay plugins add a JavaScript layer on top of non-conformant HTML but do not fix the underlying code. Screen readers still encounter the same broken structure. Several overlay vendors are named defendants in ADA lawsuits. Palm Squad fixes accessibility at the source (in the HTML, ARIA, and CSS), so every user, with any assistive technology, gets the same experience. No widget required.
Our Commitment
Palm Squad is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide an equal experience to all visitors.
We aim for full conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Where technical limitations exist, such as third-party embedded content, we document them below and seek workable alternatives.
Accessible Features
Keyboard Navigation
Every interactive element (links, buttons, form fields, and the mobile menu) is fully reachable and operable by keyboard alone.
Skip Navigation Link
A "Skip to main content" link appears when focused by keyboard, letting users bypass repetitive navigation on every page.
Screen Reader Support
Landmark regions (header, nav, main, footer), ARIA roles, and descriptive labels ensure screen readers can navigate and announce content correctly.
Color Contrast Compliance
All text meets or exceeds the 4.5:1 contrast ratio for normal text and 3:1 for large text required by WCAG 2.1 AA.
Reduced Motion Support
Scroll-reveal animations and transitions respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query, removing motion for users who request it.
Form Accessibility
Every form field has an associated label, required fields are marked, and error messages are announced to assistive technology.
Image Alt Text
Informational images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images and icons are hidden from assistive technology with alt="" or aria-hidden.
Responsive at All Sizes
Pages reflow correctly at 320 px width and 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling or loss of content.
Known Limitations
We strive for full conformance but acknowledge one area of third-party content:
- Embedded YouTube video: the "Meet the Owner" video is hosted on YouTube. Caption quality and YouTube's own player controls are outside our direct control. The iframe has a descriptive title and is keyboard-operable. If you need a transcript, contact us using the details below.
